Lands is the rebranded graphic design studio of Wexford native, Brian Byrne. Having worked as an independent designer for the last ten years, Brian, started the process of rebranding his studio last year.
“I’ve learned so much and developed my practice to such an extent that I’m a completely different designer than I was even ten years ago. The identity work, in particular, is now much more strategic in its approach. We do a deep dive and drill down into why a brand exists before we do any real design work. We keep asking questions until we uncover some insight into the business, that then drives all aesthetic decisions moving forward. It was this change in approach that fuelled the idea of my rebrand. I felt somewhat disingenuous asking clients to go through the process, having not gone through it myself. So I did it!”
Asked what inspired the new name, Brian puts it down to a recent move to the countryside. “I live in a beautiful part of rural Wexford, and the landscape is always inspiring. Whenever I need a break from the computer, I take the dog for a walk, or I drive down to Ballinesker beach. It’s the perfect antidote to deadlines. Just unplug and go! Where I live is what inspires me most, and it seemed fitting to pay homage to that.”
Lands have a diverse client base including national and international brands, various branches of local government and many small businesses who appreciate the value of good design.
